Restored — or just copied?
Restored. We start from the original first-edition dust jackets and scan them at high resolution, then digitally repair decades of wear, print degradation and color shift so the art reproduces cleanly at any size. That restoration is the craft, and it's the difference between collector-grade and gift-shop quality.
How is this legal? Isn't Stephen King's work copyrighted?
His writing absolutely is — and we don't reproduce any of it. What we print is the dust jacket artwork, which is a separate copyright. For 13 novels published between 1974 and 1987, the publishers never registered those jacket designs, which places those specific covers in the public domain. That's why the catalog stops at 13 books rather than covering everything King has written.
Why only 13 novels?
Because those are the ones where the dust jacket copyright lapsed. We could sell far more if we ignored that line. We don't.
Is this movie merchandise?
No. Every design comes from the book jacket, not the film. If you've ever searched for King art and found nothing but adaptation posters, that's exactly the gap this store exists to fill.
